The company mostly produced beer steins, ewers and vases and applied their trademark to their products as impressed version comprised of the fancy letters 'M&W' above 'Gr.' and all enclosed in a circle. The letters stand for Merkelbach & Wick and 'Grenzhausen'; it is common for the mark to be only partially impressed or indistinct.
They produced beer steins and other ceramic products under that name until 1921 when the heirs of the founders went their separate ways. In addition to the normal Merkelbach & Wick roundel, the stein above also had this paper label attached to the base, with handwritten "1705" & 2L.

Antique 1895 German Beer Stein by MERKELBACH & WICK TheGrandCollection. 5 out of 5 stars (1) $ 200.00. Favorite Add to I was intrigued by it’s coloring and it appears the brown color is not a glaze but the color of the clay due to the base being brown also much like a Terra Sigillata type stein.
