"As Isatou Ceesay, a young woman in Njau, Gambia, drops and breaks the basket of fruit she is carrying, she discovers an abandoned bag made of a strange fabric―plastic. At first these brightly colored bags seem convenient throughout the village, but as they break, they are discarded.

Isatou Ceesay dressed in pink sits with friends in Njau village as two of them embroider waste plastic in to bracelets. Mrs Ceesay's work started in this village and in the last 18 years has expanded including many other communities in the Gambia. Isatou Ceesay Before becoming a Licensed Real Estate broker, Isatou had always been a great resource in her community for over 16 years in search for housing and jobs. One day Isatou decided to take the initiative to get her Real Estate license and directly help clients instead of referring them to other brokers.

Her clients praise her for providing quality results, personable services, and expert know-how, exemplifying her ability to provide real estate solutions. Isatou Ceesay was named Queen of Recycling when she started the recycling movement in Gambia called: One Plastic Bag. Her recycling project began in 1998 and is still thriving today. In 2012, she was awarded a TIAW “Difference Maker” award in Washington, DC. Ceesay educates women on how to recycle plastic waste and turn it into income.
